SCRIPTS: Ireland’s Playwriting Festival, in partnership with Birr Theatre & Arts Centre, is ready for the stage!  

It’s been a long selection process as the panel was overwhelmed by the quantity (over 180  scripts were read and discussed) and the quality of this year’s submissions.

After much debate, we are thrilled to announce the Selected Writers for 2026:

• Liza Costello 

• Liam  McCarthy 

• Elaine Maguire O'Connor

 

They will be joining us in Birr this July for a week-long residency with our mentor Eugene O’Brien.
